When there is damage to the printer and spare parts must be replaced, the main thing we need is to know the name and serial number of the damaged spare part. If we know the name and serial number of the damaged part, replacement parts can be done. Because the printer is a mechanical device consisting of many interrelated parts, there are many parts that are installed in the printer mechanism. By knowing the name and serial number of the required spare parts, we can purchase genuine spare parts correctly. As a mechanical printing device, the printer is composed of a series of parts that work mechanically and are interrelated. When there is damage to one part, the printer mechanism will be disrupted and damage occurs or the printer cannot be used. In the replacement of parts, there are replacement parts that do not require resetting the printer and there are replacement parts that require resetting the printer. Broadly speaking, there are three methods of replacing Canon printer parts:

1.  Replacement parts that do not require resetting the printer. Example: replacement of Timing Slit Disk Film, Carriage Unit, Carriage Motor, LF/EJ Slit Film, LF/EJ Timing Sensor Unit, Paper Feed Roller Unit, Paper Feed Motor, etc.

3.  Replacement of spare parts that begins with printing the EEPROM data, replacing the damaged part, then entering the old EEPROM data into the new part that is installed. Example: replacement of the Logic Board.

Of the three methods above, if the replacement parts are the ink absorber kit and logic board then you need the Service Tool software to reset the printer. However, if what is being replaced is not an ink absorber kit or logic board, then after the replacement of spare parts is complete, the printer does not need to be reset.
