Q: If the new ink absorber is not available, can the old ink absorber be reused?
A: If you have trouble getting a new absorbent, an alternative solution is to wash and dry the old absorbent. Try to keep the ink absorber fluffy after cleaning.
Q: Can the waste ink reservoir be modified?
A; Yes, the waste ink reservoir can be modified. If a new absorber is not available in the market, and you have trouble disassembling the printer, the alternative solution is to modify the waste ink container. The modification of the waste ink container is to flow the waste ink into a transparent plastic bottle that is placed outside the printer.
Material
- Transparent plastic bottle.
- Hose with a diameter of 2 mm, and a minimum length of 30 cm.
- Plastic glue.
Modify the waste ink container
1. Remove the right side cover. Release the claws in the red circle and separate the right side cover.
2. Disconnect the black and color waste ink tubes. Look at the 2 black tubes going into the main ink absorber, disconnect the black and color waste ink tubes.
3. Install an additional hose at the end of the black and color waste ink tubes.
4. Punch a hole in the side cover to allow both hoses to pass.
5. Install a transparent plastic bottle as a container for waste ink. Cut the drain hose if it is too long and stick the plastic bottle to the printer.
Note
- This error occurs most often because the main waste ink absorber is full. Because the main waste ink absorber is not replaced or cleaned, what is next is done is to divert the waste ink disposal to a transparent plastic bottle that is placed outside the printer. Use a transparent plastic bottle so that when the waste ink is full it is visible from the outside and you can throw it away.
- As for the Platen ink absorber, just clean the upper platen ink absorber and the ink absorbent sponge (black and color). There is no need to clean the lower platen ink absorbent.
