How to reset Canon MX300, MX308, MX310, MX318 error code 5100, 6000, 5700, 5400, 5200, 6800, 6801, B200, 6A00, 9000, 5010, ROM error, RAM error
The Canon PIXMA MX300, MX308, MX310, MX318 printers need to be reset if:
1. Replaced waste ink absorber
The waste ink absorber is replaced when an error occurs with the error code: 5B00 (Main ink absorber full) or 5B01 (Platen ink absorber full). After the waste ink absorber is replaced then the waste ink counter is reset to zero. A complete discussion regarding solutions to errors with error codes 5B00 and 5B01 can be read in How to Reset Canon PIXMA MX300, MX308, MX310, MX318 error code 5B00 5B01.
2. Logic board replaced
When there is damage to the printer and it is necessary to replace the Logic board then after the logic board is replaced, the printer must be reset. Complete information regarding the replacement of the Logic Board can be read in Service Call Error Canon PIXMA MX300, MX308, MX310, MX318.
Before the Logic board is replaced with a new one, we have to print the EEPROM data from the old Logic board. The data from the old Logic board will later be entered into the new Logic board so that the history of the old Logic board will be forwarded by the new Logic board.
Here are the steps that must be done:
1. Enter Service Mode
2. Printing EEPROM data before the Logic Board is replaced
3. Replacing the Logic Board with a new one
4. Enter Service Mode
5. Resetting the printer
1. Enter Service Mode
Please look at the picture of the Operation Panel Unit below
Service mode operation procedures
1. The printer is turned off with the Power and USB cables still plugged in.
2. Press and hold the Stop/Reset button (do not release.)
3. Press and hold the ON/OFF button (don't release both buttons) and now the Power LED is green.
4. Release the Stop/Reset button (the ON/OFF button is still being held.)
5. While holding down the ON/OFF button, press the Stop/Reset button 2 times, then release both the ON/OFF and Stop/Reset buttons simultaneously.
If steps 2, 3, 4, 5 are done correctly, the ON/OFF LED will light green (not flashing) and "Service Mode Idle" will appear on the printer's LCD. If the ON/OFF LED continues to flash, and the printer's LCD does not appear "Service Mode Idle" it means that the printer failed to enter Service Mode. Turn off the printer by pressing the ON/OFF button, then repeat the above procedure correctly.
Note
- If the printer's LCD screen does not appear "Service Mode Idle" and only a blank screen appears, but the ON/OFF LED is green (not flashing) it means the printer is in Service Mode.
For additional information, here is how to enter Service Mode in the illustration image.
2. Printing EEPROM data before the Logic Board is replaced
After the printer enters Service Mode, follow the instructions in the table below.

EEPROM data from the old Logic board, then we will enter it into the new Logic board.
3. Replacing the Logic Board with a new one
To replace the Logic board, the printer must be disassembled. Make sure that the disassembly is done carefully so that no new errors occur. After replacing the Logic board, we will enter the EEPROM data from the old Logic board to the new Logic board.
4. Enter Service Mode
After the Logic board is replaced with a new one, then we will print the EEPROM data. To print EEPROM data from the new Logic board, the printer must enter Service Mode. Follow the instructions in Point 1 how to enter Service Mode.
5. Resetting the printer
The main purpose of resetting the printer is to enter EEPROM data from the old Logic board to the new Logic board so that the history of data from the old Logic board will be forwarded by the new Logic board. After the printer enters Service Mode, follow the instructions in the table below.

17. Wait a few moments, then turn the printer back on. Done.
Questions and Answers
Questions and Answers
Q: If the value of D (Main ink absorbent counter value) is not reset according to the old data, what will happen?
A: Inside the printer there are spare parts, namely the Main waste ink absorber which is symbolized as the value D. Based on the EEPROM data from the old Logic board, the Main waste ink absorber has been filled with D=048.2 or 50%. When a new Logic board is replaced, the EEPROM data shows the value D=000.0 or 0%. In order for the new Logic board to get accurate information regarding the amount of waste ink in the ink absorber, the D value must be updated from D=000.0 to D=050.0 (50%). If the D value is not updated, when the D value of the new Logic board shows the number D=050.0 (50%), in fact the Main waste ink absorber is full but no warning appears from the printer. This information error will cause an overflow of waste ink from the bottom of the printer when the D value of the new Logic board shows the number 50% or D=050.0, without any previous error warnings.
Q: When the Logic board is replaced and the Main ink absorber is also replaced/cleaned, does the D value have to be reset?
A: If the Logic board is replaced and the Main ink absorber is replaced/cleaned, then the D value does not need to be reset or the D value = 000.0 or 0%, but if the Logic board is replaced and the Main ink absorber is not replaced/cleaned then the D value must be updated accordingly. with old EEPROM data.
Q: What about other data such as the number of pages that have been printed, the number of pages that have been copied, etc. Is this data not updated to the new Logic board?
A: When replacing the Logic board, only two data need to be updated, namely Destination and Main ink absorbent value. If the Destination matches the initial data, the Destination does not need to be reset. If the Main ink absorber is replaced then the D value does not need to be reset. As for other data such as the number of pages that have been printed, the number of pages copied, the ink level, etc., it does not need to be updated to the new Logic board.
