Repair Epson L3150, L3151, L3152, L3158 error a printer's ink pad is at the end of its service life
This error occurs because the waste ink reservoir or ink pad is full. In mechanical devices such as printers, there are spare parts that function as a reservoir for waste ink. Every time the printer performs head cleaning, it will produce waste ink. This waste ink is stored in the ink pad. Until one day, the ink pads are full and the error "The printer's ink pads are at the end of their service life. Please contact Epson support."
Based on the results of the printer reset above, the value of the Main pad counter has reached the maximum number (Main ink pad is full). Because the Main pad counter has reached the maximum number, what must be replaced is the Main ink pad. The fix that we will do next is to replace the Main ink pad.
There are two ink pads on the Epson L3150, L3151, L3152, L3158 printer, namely Main ink pad and Platen ink pad. The main ink pad is the main waste ink reservoir, while the Platen ink pad is the platen waste ink reservoir (writing machine roller).
To find out how much the Main ink pad and Platen ink pad counters are using the Adjustment Program utility. Adjustment Program is a portable software that works on Windows operating system (11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP) and can be used if the printer driver is installed and the printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable (not wireless). The following is the process of repairing the printer if an error occurs "The printer's ink pads are at the end of their service life. Please contact Epson support."
Solution Repair is carried out in two stages:
1. Reset the ink pad counter
1. Reset the ink pad counter
2. Replace the ink pad
1. Reset the ink pad counter
- Use a computer that uses the Windows operating system (11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP).
- Make sure the printer driver is installed.
- Connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable (not Wireless).
- After everything is ready, turn on the printer.
- Download Adjustment Program Epson L3150, L3151, L3152, L3158
- Open AdjProg (1) - Enter key (2) - copy License ID (3) - Open Keygen (4) - Name for write in key, ex: USER (5) - paste License ID (6) - click New key (7) - copy Activation key (8) - paste Activation key (9) - OK (10)
- Select (11) - Model name: L3100 / L3101 (12) - Port: Auto selection or select USB port L3100 / L3101 (13) - OK (14) - Particular adjustment mode (15)
- Waste ink pad counter (16) - OK (17)
- To find out the value of Main pad counter and Platen pad counter before resetting, check the Main pad counter and Platen pad counter (18) then press Check (19). Wait a moment, both values will appear on the screen.
- As shown in the picture below, Main pad counter = 100% (6352 points - Max: 6346 points), Platen pad counter = 0% (0 points - Max: 3416 points). From the two values, it can be concluded that the cause of the error is that the Main pad counter has reached 100% or the Main ink pad is full. Next we will reset the Main pad counter to zero.
- To reset Main pad counter, tick Main pad counter (20) - Initialize (21) - OK. Wait a while, the Main pad counter value will be reset to zero. Follow all the prompts that appear on the screen to completion, such as: turning off the printer and then turning the printer back on. After all the commands that appear on the screen have been completed, press Finish (22) then close the Adjustment Program.
- Since the Main pad counter has been reset to zero, next we will replace the Main ink pad with a new one.
2. Replace the ink pad
- Look at the small door behind the printer. Remove the screws to allow the door to open.
- Swipe back to open it (see picture)
- Unscrew the ink pad assy (see picture)
- Remove the ink pad assy by pulling it aside (see picture)
- Replace the ink pad with a new one.
- It is highly recommended to replace the ink pad with a new one. The new ink pad for the Epson L3100, L3101 can be purchased at online stores on the internet. If a new ink pad is not available in the market or you are having trouble getting one, an alternative solution is to clean the ink pad, dry it, and then reuse it.
- After the Main pad counter is reset to zero, then the Main ink pad is replaced, the printer repair process has been completed.
Questions and Answers
Q: There is an error "A printer's ink pad is at the end of its service life" on my printer. If the waste ink pad counter is reset, but the waste ink pad is not replaced or cleaned. Can the printer return to normal?
A: Because the waste ink pad counter has been reset, the printer can be reused, but because the waste ink pad is not replaced or cleaned, in the near future, the waste ink will overflow from the printer because the waste ink pad can no longer hold the waste ink. Resetting the waste ink pad counter becomes effective if the waste ink pad is replaced with a new one.
Q: Error Code: 20000xxx when using the Adjustment Program. What to do?
A: Communication error! Error Code: 20000xxx occurs because the printer is not ready to accept commands from the Adjustment Program because it is still busy processing the previous command.
So when the printer receives the command example Main pad counter - Check, the power light will blink for about 60 seconds. The printer can process the next command example Main pad counter - Initialization after 60 seconds have passed. Communication error! Error Code: 20000xxx occurs because the second command "Main pad counter -> Initialization" is done while the printer is still processing the previous command. So wait for the power light to stop flashing, then run the next command.
When there is damage to the Epson printer and requires replacement of spare parts, after the damaged parts are replaced, then use the Adjustment Program to reset the printer so that it can work optimally with new spare parts. If you are having trouble repairing a faulty printer yourself, we recommend contacting an Epson Authorized Customer Service Center.
