How to Reset Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]


Operator Call Errors
Alarm LED blinking in orange: 8 times
Error: Warning: The ink absorber becomes almost full.
Error code: [1700]

Service Call Errors
Cycles of blinking of Alarm and Power LEDs: 7 times
Error [Error code]: Ink absorber full [5B00] [5B01], No wetting liquid [5250]

Solution:
1. Replace the ink absorber kit
2. Reset the ink absorber counter



Reset Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]


Before resetting, the printer must be in Service Mode.

STEP 1 - Enter Service Mode

Service mode operation procedures:
1)   Turn off a printer
2)   Press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button
3)   Press and hold the POWER button (do not release both buttons)
4)   Release the RESUME/CANCEL button (do not release the POWER button)
5)   While holding the POWER button, press the RESUME/CANCEL button 2 times, and then release both the POWER and RESUME/CANCEL buttons together.

About point 5):
While holding the POWER button, press and release the RESUME/CANCEL button 1 time, then press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL buttons, then release both the POWER and RESUME/CANCEL buttons together.

Note:
  • Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Power in blue, starting with Alarm LED.
  • When the power LED lights in blue, it means the printer is ready for the service mode operation.
  • If the power LED does not light in blue, the printer does not enter the service mode. Disconnect the power cord and plug it again. Then start from step 1) to start the printer in the service mode again.


STEP 2 - Reset error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]

To reset error Ink Absorber Full for Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II use:
1.   Canon Service Tool v.1030 (Recommended)
2.   Canon Service Tool v.1050 (Alternative)

Because of the Canon Service Tool v.1030 is not available, as an alternative, use the Canon Service Tool v.1050. In this post, I will discuss, how to reset the Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II with the Canon Service Tool v.1050.

Canon Service Tool v.1050



  • After entering Service Mode, follow the instructions below
  • Download Service Tool v.1050
  • Extract file and open Service Tool. If Service Tool can't be open, unplug the USB cable and then open the Service Tool. After the open Service Tool, re-connect USB cable.
  • Load paper A4 or Letter
  • Select USB Port (1)
  • For your reference in servicing, print EEPROM (2) information before resetting. Wait for the printer to finish printing
  • Clear Ink Counter, select MAIN (3). Wait for the printer to finish printing D=000.0. D is a Waste ink amount. D=000.0 means "The ink absorber counter has been reset to zero".

  • Set Destination, select your Region (4): ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA and then click SET (5)
  • Print EEPROM (2) information once again after resetting. Wait for the printer to finish printing.
  • Compare EEPROM information before and after reset, look at the value of D (Waste ink amount).
  • If all goes well, close Service Tool
  • Turn off the printer (wait 10 seconds)
  • Turn on printer and printer ready to use

  1. Thank you for posting this info! My Pro9500 is having a problem, absorbing pads full! I have the service tool running but I am getting the error code 006 ! Any ideas? Thanks, Peter

  2. I am not getting anywhere, can't access the service tool, fault 006
    Reset doesn't work
    I am getting 2 faults, printhead needs replacing!
    8 flashes, for ink absorbers full !
