The remaining ink level in one of the ink tanks may have reached the lower limit line shown on the ink tank. To check the remaining ink level, visually inspect the remaining ink in the ink tank. If the remaining ink level is below the lower limit line, refill the ink tank with the corresponding color of ink.
If printing is continued when the remaining ink level is below the lower limit line, the printer may consume a certain amount of ink to return to printable status and may also become damaged.
To continue printing, press the printer’s Start button. After this message appears, the remaining ink level notification function will not operate.
To reuse this function, refill each color of ink to the upper limit line shown on the ink tank and press the printer’s Start button for at least 5 seconds. If any ink tank is not refilled to the upper limit line, a significant error may occur in the accuracy of the remaining ink level notification function.
When you are printing and suddenly an error message appears Support Code: 1640 "The remaining ink level in one of the ink tanks may have reached the lower limit line shown on the ink tank", follow the instructions below:
- We recommend canceling and stopping printing when this error occurs. Fill in the ink first and then reset the ink level. If the printer is forced to print a large volume when the ink is at the bottom line, the print head is likely to be damaged.
- The inks used for Canon PIXMA G2260 are GI-21 Pigment Black Ink Tank, GI-21 Cyan Ink Tank, GI-21 Magenta Ink Tank, GI-21 Yellow Ink Tank.
- Even if only one ink is under the ink level, we recommend filling all ink (black, cyan, magenta, yellow), so that all colors are in the upper limit line of the ink level (see image below.)
- The inks used for Canon PIXMA G2260 are GI-21 Pigment Black Ink Tank, GI-21 Cyan Ink Tank, GI-21 Magenta Ink Tank, GI-21 Yellow Ink Tank.
There are two solutions that can be done when this error occurs, namely only filling out one color, or filling all colors at once up to the upper limit of the ink level.
Solution for Condition 1 (fill only one color)
- Fill the yellow ink tank up to the top line of the ink level (1).
- Go to Maintenance and Preferences (2), Remaining Ink Notification Settings (3)
- Function for notifying the remaining ink level: Enable (4) then click Set (5).
- Resets the remaining ink level count: Yellow (6), then click Reset (7). After the yellow ink level is reset, click Close (8) to finish.
Solution for Condition 2 (fill all four colors full) - Recommended
- Fill the black, cyan, magenta, yellow ink tanks to the upper limit of the ink level (1).
- Go to Maintenance and Preferences (2), Remaining Ink Notification Settings (3)
- Function for notifying the remaining ink level: Enable (4) then click Set (5).
- Resets the remaining ink level count: All Colors (6), then click Reset (7). After the yellow ink level is reset, click Close (8) to finish.

Description
Your printer may need service.
Cause
A print head error has occurred.
Solution
The print head needs to be replaced.
- Print heads for Canon PIXMA G2260 can be purchased in the market with the code: BH-20 (QY6-8009 Black), CH-20 (QY6-8021 Tri-Color)
- Because there are two print heads inside the printer (black and color), when this error occurs, there is a possibility that only one of the print heads has been replaced, so you must determine which print head is damaged (black or color) and replace it with a new one.
- Warranty Service. If the printer is still under 1 year manufacturer's warranty and proof of purchase is still available, you are still entitled to service or replacement. If the 1 year warranty period has elapsed and you purchased a Canon CarePak extended warranty, you may be entitled to additional options. Please create an account or login to your Canon account to get service.
- Out of warranty. If the printer is out of warranty, you can purchase replacement parts through the Canon Upgrade Program or at an online store.
- If the print head has been replaced and does not resolve the problem, the printer must be serviced because there is a possibility that the print head error is caused by other damage.

A: The Maintenance Cartridge can be replaced when the error message Support Code: 3252 or Support Code: 1368 appears. Basically it doesn't matter when the Maintenance Cartridge is replaced. When a new Maintenance Cartridge is available, you can replace it without waiting for the Support Code: 1368 appears, so you don't lose time because the printer can't be used because of an error.
Q: If OEM Maintenance Cartridge MC-G02 is not available, can the Compatible Maintenance Cartridge MC-G02 be used as an alternative?
A: Compatible Maintenance Cartridge MC-G02 can be used instead of OEM Maintenance Cartridge MC-G02. Please read the information provided by the seller regarding this matter.
Q: The ink for Canon PIXMA G2260 is GI-21. Can I buy other brands of ink that are compatible with Canon PIXMA G2260?
A: We recommend using genuine Epson ink: GI-21 Pigment Black Ink Tank, GI-21 Cyan Ink Tank, GI-21 Magenta Ink Tank, GI-21 Yellow Ink Tank, but if you have trouble getting it, please use branded ink another compatible Canon PIXMA G2260. We recommend, on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., always use the same brand of ink as the first ink refill. Be careful in choosing printer ink, and always use the same brand as the first fill. Based on our experience, mismatched ink or changing ink brands on the 2nd, 3rd, etc. can damage the print head.
When an error occurs and you have trouble fixing it, please contact a Canon Service Center or contact the nearest printer repair professional.
